Educational programme: DAS LEBEN IST EIN KAMPFSPIEL
We took pupils aged 9-18 to Jan Wölfchen Vlček's exhibition for an educational programme.
The concept of the program included several activities, of which we made slight variations with each group. The basis was drawing-association according to part of the shapes of the motifs that are in the paintings in the exhibition. This phase took place after a quick and cursory glance at the exhibition. Subsequently, the pupils searched for what the hints really are and at the same time they translated the texts that are in the paintings. We then went through the exhibition with commentary on the selected works and discussed their meanings. Here it was already evident that the groups clearly perceived the meaning of the exhibition. Honestly, I wasn't entirely sure they would clearly understand the hyperbole and irony that is in the exhibition, but it was confirmed to me once again that the younger generation is well equipped to perceive contemporary art, and just the combination of their own drawing and observing the stylized painting of the militaria gave them a clear picture of how absurd war is.
